About Us

Jim & I once had a dream - a dream of owning property in the Pacific Northwest, with trees, open areas, and privacy. Our trek led us to Port Angeles, WA, in 1988. There we found 34 acres of raw land. In the meantime we were living on Adak in Alaska's Aleutian Chain, counting the days until we could retire and start our new farm.

As a Master Dog Groomer, one of my businesses on the Alaska island of Adak was "Connie's Canine Cuttery." As I was whizzing hair off the dogs, I was thinking "What a waste. I should be doing something with this fiber." That, of course, led to the craft of spinning. In true entrepreneurial style not only did I charge owners to cut the hair off their dogs, I got them to buy it back as scarves, hats, and little momentos of "Fido." I didn't want to groom dogs when we left Adak, but I certainly did not want to give up spinning (by then I had also taught myself  how to weave). On vacation in 1994, Jim and I visited an alpaca farm. We were sold.  We became the proud owners of a male weanling alpaca. And, of course, that was not our last purchase.

We moved to our new home, Alpacas of Cedar Wind, in 1995. I looked out the window one day and realized that not only were we living our dream, we had found the pot at the end of the rainbow.

Pot-o-Gold at the end of the rainbow!

Are we enjoying life? You bet. Horses and sheep have come and gone from our farm, but the alpacas are here to stay. Jim is seen here with 3-day old Divinity and mom Miss Deliciosa.

At Alpacas of Cedar Wind we have a number of huacaya weanlings, maidens, bred females, herd sires/future herd sires , and pet/fiber quality males for sale in a variety of beautiful colors and several very nice herdsires available for stud service. And, we occasionally have suri alpacas for sale.  We offer agisting services, free delivery of purchased alpacas within the State of Washington, and sale of raw fiber, alpaca roving, custom-made alpaca garments and yarns (visit our farm store).

Jim and I enjoy farm visitors. Just phone ahead or drop us an e-mail and we will arrange a tour and provide directions.
